Our Mission: Our mission at periaid is to engage the community in addressing period poverty in Arizona, connect menstruators in need with period supplies near them, and support organizations providing period supplies to these menstruators. Periaid is a mobile app concept that has a three portal model. Menstruator Portal: The menstruator portal requires menstruators in need to provide basic information such as email and username to create an account that allows them to search for organizations on our map database to get products from, using filters such as zip code, product type, and method of pickup. Donor Portal: The donor portal will have a similar login process to the menstruator portal. Once these users are on the app, they will be able to learn more about period poverty through videos and articles. Importantly, they will be able search by filter to sign up for volunteer opportunities, donate money, or collect products for these participating organizations. Organization Portal: This portal will be included as the app experiences further iteration. The organization portal will require certification for people to log in as an organization. Once in the app, different admins will be able to send push notifications to people who have favorited the organization, update their customized inventory system, and view data that the app is collecting about demographics and user interactions.

Anyone who has access to a mobile phone can use periaid! These are a few user groups that we have in mind as we develop: 1. Menstruators in need of free period supplies. 2. Users who would like to learn about period poverty and menstruation. 3. Users who would like to donate or volunteer to organizations involved on the app. 4. Organizations who support menstruators in need.

Periaid is currently based in Arizona, specifically the metro-Phoenix area. We hope to expand our reach as we continue to develop the app.

What sets our periaid apart is that it unites three crucial users in the fight against period poverty–people who have a need, people who can advocate and give, and organizations who can lead–all with the click of a button. Periaid will provide opportunities for users to give and receive help, and in the process, destigmatize menstruation. Period.
